Your tartan is very close to the Murray of Atholl. I have a kilt in the M of A tartan..

I would suggest going with black shoes, sporran and belts. The black tends to be a bit more dressy than brown. Black also matches your kilt as well..

Flashes should match one of the colors of your kilt. I would say darker colors tend to be a bit dull. My flashes are the same as my kilt.. I would think a pair of red, green or blue would work well. I'm not to sure about yellow.

Oatmeal hose go with anything! They dressup quite well too!

Just remember that no matter what you wear, wear it with pride!

I would second Big Paul's advice. Intially purchasing your belt, and sporran in black you have a better chance of it going well with any tartan or solid color kilt. You can always add brown later if you wish. I would also make your first sporran one for everyday wear rather than a dress or semi-dress sporran.

The rules for day wear are much less strict, and could almost be tossed out the window in my opinion. When you dress up you need to pay more attention.

But that's why I have trouble with the casual dress. Less rules. I don't know what's going on.

That tartan is sharp. I'd probably go with black leather, but if you like brown that'd work too. If you're worried because you only have brown shoes, don't be.I often break the rules, and the only people who know any better are here at this forum. If you feel the need to miss match leather just accessorize with other articles of clothing that match your shoes. For example; If you must wear brown shoes with a black sporran, match the shoes with brown flashes, and either a brown sweater, vest, or coat. Of course, if you read on you'll see that most don't agree with me.

No, black's good. Unless I made a typo, I should have said that I have black shoes, not brown ones.
