Yarn Color
Okay, I know what a sett is and how it works. What I'm wondering about is this- is the same color ( shade) of yarn ( red for example) used in all tartans? Or are there shades unique to different tartans? I know there are diffrences due to the manufacturing process.

each weaver has their own version of all the colours , so for example the blue in my hunting robertson would be slightly different from different makers, and that I think is wonderful that each and every tartan is just sligthly different

I'd recommend reading my recent article on tartan colors:

Probably more than you wanted to know, but it will answer you questions!

Thanks, that pretty well confirmed what I suspected.
