For 20 some years I usually have a beard in the winter and then shave it for the warm months - my wife likes my shorn face, but I hate to shave so I compromise. (She uses this to justify not shaving her legs in the winter.)

I shaved my upper lip once since 1974 and it scared me.

My former employer never liked facial hair and recounted that his father had told him that men with facial hair were hiding something. Yeah, I'm hiding something - I HATE TO SHAVE

I bought an antique straight razor off ebay, a strop, and a shaving brush and soap. A bit of an upfront expense, but that razor is older than I am. As long as I take care of it it'll be an heirloom for my son, so the only expense is shaving soap (lasts longer than cream). After getting the hang of stropping it and the occasional sharpening, and actually using it, I get a better shave than my Mach 3 ever gave. It's funny, I see commercials for razors with 4+ blades, and a striaght razor is best.

I shave my neck and upper cheeks (sort of a Henry VIII look), so I like to have a good razor, but I don't shave every day. Every week or so, maybe.

hmm...I can't imagine taking something like that to my own face...I'd prolly wind up looking like I got hit in the face with a lawnmower.

I wish I could grow a beard. I've had a moustache for a little over a year now and I'm very pleased with it. But for some reason I have two bald spots on my cheeks & jaws (one on each side) and they aren't in the same location on each side. So when I try to grow a beard it looks lopsided and like someone randomly shaved off portions. *sigh*

I have what I like to refer to as 'facial hair ADD'. I can't keep one thing for too long. I'm either growing a beard or shaving one off. I prefer to let it grow for about 2 months and then have fun shaving it off in stages seeing what interested looks I can come up with.

Shouldn't be hard to guess that I'm still single!

I had a beard when I was younger. I usually have long sidebreezers but I went to a different barber for my haircut and he shaved them off, so I'm trying to grow them back again as I think I look a bit effeminate without them. Today my black heavyweight wool kilt was away to have the lining repaired so I wore a lightweight Mercy kilt instead. Several of the court office staff commented on the loss of my sidebreezers but nobody commented on or even seemed to notice the different kilt.

The best razor I ever found was the single blade Bic Metal. Good luck finding them, the last time I saw them in a store (after I had not been able to find them for over a year) I bought the store's entire stock. Im still using that bunch nearly 7 years later. Multi blade hurt to shave with. never tried a straight razor though.

Personally, I can do without facial hair. I have a few spots in the beard zone where the hair is spare, I find keeping facial hair trimmed is a pain & having hair on my upper lip drives me nuts (& belief me, that's a short drive), but I grow hair on my chinny chin-chin for one primary reason - to help avoid confusion.

Being 5' 8" tall, wearing kilts all the time & having very long, wavy/curly red hair (in the best Braveheart "tradition"), well, having some facial hair helps gives other people a clear & easily identifiable visual cue that I'm a man.

This is particularly helpful when using public restrooms. Though, I gotta admit, it's pretty amusing seeing the reaction from some guys when they first come into the restroom & catch just a glimpse of my kilt & long hair! It's hilarious! Some say "sorry" & make a quick exit only to cautiously re-enter a moment later; some double-check the sign on the door, then look back at me. I enjoy messin' with peoples heads (& preconceptions)!
