I would also consider removing the outside pockets. I think the cargo pockets lower the look to "casual;" without them, it moves up to "casual dress."
First of all I want to say that I have no taste. That being said: What you want is contrast black kilt, white or patterned shirt. Now try this black shoes, flash, kilt, four-in-hand tie, belt, & sporran with white kilt hose and shirt. Or try white shoes, flash, & shirt with black hose, kilt and tie.
Oh I forgot to mention that. I always remove the pockets when I want to look more dressed up. I really like that feature! DALE. Here's one for a few $$ less - not quite as thick, and not hand-made, but still quite nice. Merino wool sweater.
