    Running Kilt

Does anyone own one of those running kilts are from Scot Action Sports? It looks like a short skirt with side slits, no pleats, and no overlap on the front. Is this correct?

I wouldn't consider this a kilt even though it is made by one of the most prevelant kilt companys. In my books a kilt has pleats, overlap on the front, and goes to just above the knee caps, also it dousn't have side slits or whatever you want to call them. but thats just my opinion.

Agreed. The old felt "loincloth" kits from the Boy Scouts have approximately the same coverage.

sounds about right. A kilt it a kilt is a kilt. A "running" kilt sounds like a small towel covering the boys.

I'll stick with a regular kilt.

I prefer a real kilt for my annual charity half marathon. In the past I have worn an old wool black watch, shortened to above knee by tying it up at the waist during the run, (photo on my website) but this has now passed to the Kilt Adoption Agency. This year I will be doing the run in a polyester/cotton black Mercy Kilt. As this is a very thin and lightweight garment I think I'll be able to run with it at its normal knee length and will have no need to roll it up at the waist.

    Is it a kilt?

    http://www.runningkilts.com/
Thats not a kilt by this definition. but are a few other modern kilts by this def?
    This is from dictionarys .com
"A knee-length skirt with deep pleats, usually of a tartan wool, worn as part of the dress for men in the Scottish Highlands."

Are ther any old threads "define a kilt?"

What defines a kilt has been discussed more than once. Here's one thread that dealt with it.
