Kudos for a fashion designer taking on the cause of the kilt. I also thought the pleats might be in front but still can't quite tell. Lastly, while I like the ghillie-boot combo, I wouldn't want to lace those things up, no matter what the occasion.

I'll have to agree, the old-school boxing boot with a kilt thing looks really odd.

then again, he does have rather good taste in his acompanyment...so I can't fault him too much.

Indeed: it's not the way I'd wear the tartan, but then I'm not the one wearing it in the photo. I wonder if this was one of those "fashion designer" ideas to make the couple look more...um...er..."couple-y"? I've seen boots like those before, but mostly at the Ren-Faires, and I'm not quite sure what historical period they're from-any help guys?

Probably a few people will remember them as the couple in tartan, and him as the guy in the kilt - those 'do's' tend to be rather extrovert, from what I can gather.

A nice sober formal normal kilt outfit is not going to make any sort of impression in that company. Over the top is the only place to be.

They look more like boots from modern TV Wrestling by the looks of them. Wonder why anyone would want to wear wrestling boots with kilt? Does he think he is Rowdy Roddy Piper?

I don't think those are the same thing. The ones in the picture appear to be production shoes, polished leather, with a toecap instead of the slashed-and-poked flat leather with a sole on it.

There is no horizontal color blocks, other than the white stripe. It looks like a plain ol' windowpane check, striking in its simplicity. Very nice job on the stitching and lining up the stripe, too.
