care and feeding of canvas kilt

I've had 5 canvas Utilikilts for nearly 3 years. I wash in cold water, snap it all closed & hang to air dry (which in Arizona in the summertime takes about 5 minutes ), smoothing out all the pleats by hand from the top of the pleat to the bottom while kind of curving the pleat slightly to follow the flow of the pleats around the body. I never iron a canvas kilt (just like I'd never iron blue jeans). The more the canvas softens, the easier it is to smooth out.
