    Isn't that odd ??
I'm the same. No qualms about hopping on the London tube in a kilt, worry about it much more when wandering around Edinburgh - just get that feeling that everybody is looking at me, knowing that I wasn't born and bred in Scotland.

Believe me, it is just the same whether you are in London or Edinburgh. I try to get up there about three times a year and, of course, I am always kilted. Six years or so back, I did feel very self-conscious in Auld Reekie if I wore any of my Utilikilts (in fact, the landlord of my B&B in the city advised against wearing them at all). However, I persevered and never once have I met any resistance to them - on the contrary, the Utilikilts' capacious cargo pockets are often much admired! As for my tartan kilts and TFCK kilts in various fabrics I have never noticed a turned head. The only reactions seem to be from tourists who ask (constantly) to be photographed with me!

Get out there and do it, my friends. Just don't overdo the accessories and headgear - keep it simple and casual and you'll blend into the scene.

No matter where you go Ham, YOU will find those that want pictures of you.
It's your style, personality, and plain good looks!

If we all could live up to that!

As 'Presuming Ed' states, wearing the kilt out and about in London-well its just not noticed: apart that is from the chap who asked if my 'Highland Granite' was 'Black Watch'.

So if visiting London-do wear your kilt: but be warned about the tube-some stations do have the most violent updraughts.

The Scots I've talked with wear them sometimes, special events etc.
I do believe that some of the lack of kilts is a backlash to the tartantilia.

Not to mention chewing gum all over the seats!

I'm going to wear my kilt into London at the first available oppurtunity, people in London are very accepting and you'll see a damn sight more unusual clothing being worn than a kilt (especially if you visit Camden Market on a Saturday!)

I'd avoid Portobello Road at this time of year like the plague - unless you have to go there like I did last weekend and got ambushed by some Italian tourists who wanted to take a picture of me.
