I was told by a Scottish friend a few days ago that she sees Scotsmen wearing kilts going to see their local football team all the time...she says the team have their own tartan and sell kilts at the ground to fans!

Have the "football hooligans" toned down a bit, or is someone likely to be assaulted for wearing some other team's tartan at the wrong time?

I do not know Glasgow at all, never having been there (Edinburgh's ma toon), but I know full well that I'd not wear my Celtic supporters' kit there - under any circumstances!!!!

    Here's a piccy:

I believe the Edinburgh tribal standoff is between Hibs and Hearts, although in all the times I've been in Edinburgh I don't recall seeing any soccer crowds - I must have been in the wrong parts.

Celtic & Ranger followers are pretty much the ainly "hooligans" ai've seen... an ai think it is maistly confined tae Glasgow.... ai've never seen trouble roon here...

ai think England has had a lot maire trouble fraim 'fitba hooligans' than Scotland....

    Talking

Being myself a Valencia CF and Celtic FC supporter, I never experienced real fights, although even here we had some dead guys in fights between team supporters gangs of other teams.

Regarding Celtic and Rangers, as far as I've experienced both groups here I must say that when the catholic team, Celtics (The Bhoys) came here they get out of the field surrounded by a clapping crowd of local supporters, and they even have a mixed supporters group with Villareal FC both in Glasgow and here. That game was played 2 years ago, and even when the Celtic lost, they spent three days of fun and good relations with the Villareal locals, with their striped green and white t-shirts and scarfs, and their Saltires and Irish flags invading the streets in a sharing of good manners.

On the opposite side, the protestant Rangers (The Gers) are more close to the idea of the "english hooligan", and also they have the Union Jack as their flag. This year they played against Villareal as well, but the consequences were quite different...there were 9 jailed for disturbs, fights and damages on many bars and clubs, and be sure that our police is not as active as that in Turkey or places like that... u can believe me if I say that these were just the most evidently necessary to jail. We live of tourism, so we don't want to start beating and jailing them too fast

    AMUNT VALENCIA!! UP THE BHOYS!!

    ¡Salud!

As a rabid Parrothead, I must say that is one phine sporran there. Will it hold a flask of tequila?
