One more question...does it ruin the pleats to sit too long in your kilt? I have my kilt for my wedding and my fiance gets worried i am going to cruch the pleats. can't piss off the boss. i've got really expensive pictures to take post wedding and during reception.

is there anywhere i can get a list or is there a site i can find how to assemble my kilt outfit? (pins, belt, sporran, hose, shoes, etc.?)

A search on the word wedding should get you the info you need. There's quite a few wedding pics floating around too. Just do a sweep when you sit and your pleats will be fine.
Remember, there are no "dumb" questions so ask away.

I have only 13 and 16 oz. hand sewn Scottish wool 'tanks' not counting two belted plaids but as far as the pleats go, even after sitting on them for hours any wrinkles that might have been there simply fall away in a minute or two and can't be seen at all.

my chain is so smooth i dont think it poses much threat

however its not as easy to put on and not very adjustable

Practice the "butt sweep" as you sit down so that you are more-or-less sitting on the pleats flat rather than jumbled up. Hopefully it is a wooden pew and not one of those wretched padded monstrosities...mush easier to get things right on a smooth surface.
I've sat for good long periods and never seen a problem in either acrylic or wool kilts. I don't think you can generate quite enough heat to re-crease the pleats significantly. I never, however, wear a kilt when driving long distances.
