Even if it were accurate, don't worry too much about it. None of our ancestors from Scotland were saints. From my understanding nobles, chieftans, etc changed their alligances more than they changed their kilts! Deals and truces were made and broken faster than they are on Survivor. I know I am stubburn, so I would hate to have seen what my forefathers were like in less civil conditions

Be proud of the name, the history, and the association with Scotland and don't worry so much of the small details of events and battles that have been made more important in current times than they likely were at the time.

Too true, Colin. Which is why it was relatively easy for the Normans/English to conquer both Scotland and Ireland. You would be hard pressed to find any Chief/Chieftain, whatever, who hadn't gone against their own people in some way at some point in time. The same can be true of how Native peoples in both the USA and Canada were dealt with. Divide and conquer...works every time.

I have a poster put out for the 700th anniversary of the battle of Sterling
    entitled:

Everything I need to know about life I learned from BRAVEHEART

Some Men are longer than others.
    Always remember the rocks.
Don't stand on head or your kilt will fly up.
In order to find their equal the Irish are forced to talk to God.
History is written by the winners.
People don't follow titles they follow courage.
    Be yourself,
    Wisdom before strenght,
Your heart is free follow were it leads.
Evryone dies but not everyone really lives.
When love is true it lasts a lifetime and beyond.
Prize peace above all things, and remember
that it cannot be bought with gold.
If you must fight, then fight for not for glory nor riches nor honours
but for Freedom, which no ones gives up but with life itself...

thought that you might enjoy it
I'm an 18th century guy born into the 20th century and have been dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

We do not stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing"
