			Albannach at Gatlinburg Games

In a word, they are great. The first time I have seen them and I was impressed. The driving rhythm of the drums forces you to dance. And I got a special treat as they were staying at the same hotel as I was and I got to chat with them for a bit that evening after they had cleaned up and changed.
As an aside, there was a guy in the audience wearing a Clan An drumma t-shirt. Jamesie saw him and told him he should leave or go buy an Albannach t-shirt at the back of the tent. The guy responded that he had paid $500 on eBay for the CAD t-shirt, and without missing a beat Jamesie said it must have been one with his (Jamesie's) sweat on it, then proceeded to blow the guy a kiss! It was hilarious. (FYI, for those not in the know, until late last year all of the Albannach band members were part of CAD).

 Now, on to the pics!

From l to r, Davie, Jacquie, Donnie, Kyle, and Jamesie. Aya is off to the right of Jamesie.

Davie singing a tribute to William Wallace

Donnie wailing on the pipes and (not) Jamesie's son pounding on the drums to the right of Kyle. And he really was playing in time with Kyle!

Jamesie showing the energy he puts into the act.

For anyone interested: Albanach will also be performing in the pre-race festivities at the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte next weekend (May 28). Surely Fox Sports will include them somewhere in its NASCAR broadcast! More details at http://www.albanach.com

I have several pics as well, but can't post them from work because I can't access my flickr account. Will post them this evening. I was thoroughly blown away by their power, and they appear to be genuinely good people to, just judging by their interactions with the festivalgoers before and after the show.
Jamesie also told him that the shirt would be good for kindling as well. Pretty funny stuff.

Thanks for the correction, KCW. So much for my memory!

The wee laddie is no Jamesie's. His name is Gunnar. If you paid a visit to the table where the band was peddling its wares, you doubtless saw the Albannach-logo jewelry on display. Gunnar's father makes all that up. He spends time on both my own forum and the Albannach forum, posting under the username Wodan.

Wodan's shop is mere miles from my house. I may have to seek him out. He does beautiful work.

I stand corrected gentleman. But the lad certainly looks like Jamesie. Now is Gunnar (Wodan) really Davie? I know that he dabbles in other things, and is going to, or already has, show some of his Albannach work, besides his bhodran playing.
