    It seems to me that it would take slightly more cloth to pleat to the sett as opposed to the stripe, as you have to go over that little extra bit to continue with the pattern. Granted, it's only a matter of a couple feet, if that, spread over 20-30 pleats, but the excuse of pleating to the sett taking more cloth just doesn't hold up to mathmatical scrutiny.

    Excellent kilt, too I'm quite jealous.

    Thanks for the kind words all - I really enjoy wearing this casual kilt.

    I was told that the kilt pleating (sett or stripe) was up to the tailor that would make the kilt - period. I'll bet its one way to contain labor costs. I forgot a couple of "likes"... its lined - a nice touch... and it has kilt hanging loops.

    Oh yeah... in my book there's only one Hamish, his years of eperience place him in the living "national treasure" category - compared to him, I'm a rank amateur.
