Well, I'm not sure if I qualify as an "oldtimer", but I'm bordering on the inactive. I do check in most days to see what's up though.

I don't post as much these days because there isn't the need; there are so many members now that someone else usually says what I think in a post before I even get to a thread. I don't like redundant posts, and I don't post "me-too!" either. If someone asks a question, I will not post "I don't know" in response. So I'm kinda limited in what I respond to.

Do I count as an old-timer or a newbie? I joined a long time ago, but my first post was earlier this year. (I also miss Graham and his green tights )

I stopped posting for some time - neither did I lurk for a goodly part of it - mainly because I was becoming infuriated by the unnecessary repetitions in the postings. Yes, some topics are bound to come up over and over again, but there are many that would be unnecessary if people would just take the trouble to do their own research, as I did long before the Internet was a twinkle in someone's eye! There were also some heated threads (I'll not mention the topics) which almost drove me to suicide in an effort to avoid WWIII.
Frankly, there are no other kilt-orientated forums that match this one or are worth spending much time on, and so I am back - with a vengeance! - but I am being very selective in what I tune-in to nowadays. This could mean I miss some gems, but I have to live with that possibility. Many thread topics still annoy me and when they crop up I switch off.
Then there's the matter of actually having a life to live - away from the computer!
