My Dad and I were walking back to the car after our highland games here a few weeks ago, wearing Irish National tartans. We ran into another fellow wearing the same, and started chatting about the kilts, makers, etc.. A car slowed, and the lady driving it said, "I like your kilts, what clan is that?" to which Dad answered;"We're Irish, we don't have clans, we're a gang." :mrgreen:

BTW, the definitions of a cult are are as follows:
-A religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader.
-The followers of such a religion or sect.
-A system or community of religious worship and ritual.
-The formal means of expressing religious reverence; religious ceremony and ritual.
-A usually nonscientific method or regimen claimed by its originator to have exclusive or exceptional power in curing a particular disease.
-Obsessive, especially faddish, devotion to or veneration for a person, principle, or thing.
-An exclusive group of persons sharing an esoteric, usually artistic or intellectual interest.

Not all cults are religious in nature; a non-religious "cult of personality" can be just as psychologically domineering as any religious group. And in my experience as someone with a less-than-mainstream philosophy of life, I dare say that most people use "cult" to mean anything other than what they do

I had a very cute 40'ish woman walk up to me in Starbucks the other day and say, "It sure is odd seeing a guy in a kilt. Your outfit looks very nice, but why would you be wearing a kilt in this day and age?"

I paused and replied, "Do you know what dungarees are?" She said, "No." I answered, "They are what people used to call blue jeans, back when it was unheard of for a lady to wear them in public." She replied, "Yeah, but thngs have changed." I said, "It's a good thing. In this day and age, you can wear your dungarees and I can wear my kilt. They say good fashion never goes out of style."

She nodded and started to walk away, then turned and added, "I sure don't know any men that would wear a kilt nowadays." I immediately responded, "Maybe you should hang around with a better class of men... ones with some confidence maybe?" She laughed and said, "Maybe you have a point there!"

We would only be a cult if every one of us played the accordion. I have one, but have not learned to play it at this time. Can you picture an army of Kilted accordionists?. WOW What a noise that would make.
