The sporran is a Rob Roy-type. The back and flap are made from 4mm Sedgewick's black bridle leather, lined in rifle green skiver, and hand-stitched at 7 stitches to the inch. The decorations are 1/4 inch nickel pyramid studs arranged in an octagon around a 1 inch nickel thistle (it's the odd one of a defunct pair of decorations for a winker/blinder). The front is made from black panel hide (the stuff one used for making the seat on English saddles). The tassel bells are pewter from Clanart (Bulldog Buckle Company), and the fastening is a piece of black or very dark grey horn (I can't really tell). The 'strings' are all lengths of 3mm black American bolo cord.

An t-ileach;
The outfit looks great, I like the look of the Argyle Jacket with the kilt. I like your kilt, what tartan is it?

It's supposed to be a MacDonald, but then as I bought it fairly cheap intending to use it an everyday knock-about thing, it's probably some Pakistani weaving mill's version (I don't have any real problem with that: if they make them cheap enough for everybody to wear everyday, then fine)(actually it cost less than a pair of Levi's would) - but it's close enough.

What to wear at a Garden Party...
Hi, gang,
My only suggestion might be a Regulation Doublet. It is NOT a PC and might be just a bit more formal for daywear?
Sandy
Nothing is worn under the kilt...everything works just fine!!

To me, the Regulation doublet is still evening wear. You obviously can't wear a velvet one to a daytime function (actually, for me half the fun of kilts is the ability to wear velvet. I've only got one velvet doublet at the momemt, but I WANT MORE! A velvet Regulation Doublet and a velvet Sheriffmuir, to begin. The other great thing about velvet is that the ladies love it!)
All the wool Regulation doublets I've seen have silk facings on the lapels - a sure sign of evening dress. You can just see the silk in this photo:
