I have tried to get a series of swords that would replicate/represent Scotland from the iron age through 1740s. Here is the llist:
-2 foot dagger usable as dirk or 500s short sword
-Roman gladius
-Iron and leather hilted long sword
-Pictish/Authurian/Anglo-Saxon long sword (based on archeological find)
-mid-medieval straight cross bared broadsword (thick blade-more for stage or reenactment than actual sharpening)
-short broad sword (1300s)
-Two handed swept hilted claymore
-Baskethilt broadsword/claymore
-suign dubh
-Viking broadsword (presently-screw/bolt section broken from blade tang)

Alll but one are properly tempered and can/are sharpened. Right now, most are in storage in closets as a 3 year old and 1.75 year olds and edged weapons don't mix well (with all parts still attatched).

Most of these were purchased from Museum Replicas, which prides itself on the accuracy of their swords and daggers, as well their suitability in combat. These are more for function than show, though mine are for my own curiousity. I just like them looking more functional and authentic than pretty for pretty sake. Similar swords are sold by Bold Blazons as well, which to me is a good thing. For sheer beauty combined with functionality, I'd say Highland Blades makes blades that ones that pictures DO NOT CAPTURE!
