Wisecrack # 2 not!
I had to drop of some stuff at the alteration shop today. After getting out of my car I saw an SUV full of young men speeding my way, so I waited to cross the street. They SUV slowed down, and I thought to myself, "I've only had one wisecrack in 10 months of full-time kilting, here comes wisecrack #2."
The window on the SUV came down and this you man yelled loudly. "you look awesome!" Then they speed off before I could say anything. I continued across the street to the alteration shop thinking that I may have just witnessed the end of western civilization as we know it.
I couldn't resist looking in the full-length mirror in the shop. I had worn my Buzz Kidder Woodland Camo, a black polo, lovat green hose, black flashes, and of course black belt, black sporran, and black shoes (shined). Everything coordinated with the kilt perfectly - not bad for a 59 year old guy. I don't know about "awesome," but I did look pretty darn good if I do say so myself.

Darrell, aren't those interactions the best? Nothing lifts me more than to get a compliment when I was expecting a derogatory comment.

Bravo !
Sometimes the best comments aren't even spoken, the look is more than enough.

It is mind bending sometimes. Some of my best kilt compliments have come from young men I'd expected to harrass, tease, or insult me.
Shows what I know....

It just goes to show you, we need to be careful about jumping to conclusions.

The other thing that happens from time to time is someone will be obviously gearing up to make a comment, so I'll gear up for whatever kiltism they're about to utter, and out comes, "Nice shirt."
