Thanks, everyone, for the good wishes. My surgery will probably be next Wednesday or Thursday, the PT guy says I'm doing much better than average, and I'm back at work (directing the crew from the comfort of a rocking chair at the nature center  )
I never realized how handy the cell phone / camera combos are until now...my crew sends me pics of trail problems or snakes they can't identify and I call back the answer in a few seconds. Amazing.
