How bad is YOUR kilt addiction?

I think I was in Altoona once in the late 60s....dang...don't remember much from back then...know I was in the area and it was green and there were lots of towns with people in them....

Thanks..I make as many as I can, all factors permitting. We are blessed in having quite a few that are within somewhat reasonable travel time (lots of Scots/Irish ancestry in this area). I almost always make the games in Ligonier, PA (second week of Sept.). My daughter competes in Irish stepdancing and will be competing for the first time this year in Highland dancing as well, so we will be hitting as many as possible in connection w/ that.

My kilt collection isn't as notable as most of the folks on this site (Hamish is downright scary), mostly consisting of hand pleated great kilts in tartans reflecting ancestral heritage (yes, I see the paradox). MacDonald & MacLaren on my paternal side & MacLeod on my maternal (there are others, but I haven't picked them up yet). I also own a great kilt size Blackwatch & another that I have been unable to identify as any particular tartan. I prefer the great kilt, but I recently picked up a unique MacDonald of the Isles modern kilt (see also the "what was your first kilt" thread). I used to have a Gordon modern kilt, but passed it along to a friend who was actually a Gordon. The addiction, though, is pretty strong. I have expanded my search to include not only the tartans of my family, but those of my wife's family as well (a good excuse to acquire more kilts!) I would like to also acquire some kilts in pre-19th century type plaids. I was a bit skeptical about the Utili-kilt etc... style kilts when they first came out, but I could be tempted into acquiring one if the price was right.

...As far as the Altoona thing goes...it has probably changed quite a bit from what you remember of it, but you can still drive 5 mins. out of the city and be in beautiful central PA!
