    My chest hurts

I just got back from the vet emergency hospital where I had to leave my cat Badger over night. He is in a lot of pain from blocked urinary bladder which may go up to his kidneys. They are going to do quite a lot of work on him tonight with catheters, x-rays, various injections, etc. I'll be picking him up in the morning to take him to the regular vet to stay another 24-48 hours to be watched. He is quite an affectionate cat and I won't be there to rub his ears to keep him from being scared in a strange place. He's going to have a rough couple of days and he won't be licking my nose in the morning to wake me up.

Hope you all don't mind. I just had to vent a little somewhere.

Don't feel much like Cheers tonight! Bill

    Aye,

Understand. Have had cats all my life.

One lady wrote something to the effect, "What a fearful thing it is to love something that will die."

But we keep on. Cat after cat.

    No dang fun though.

You'd think that with all the cats in the world and all the folks making their living off the cat lover market, someone would have come up with a preventative, treatment, or cure for that most common condition.

    Hi Bill

Sorry to hear about Badger. I know how you feel, I had a cat (a chocolate brown Burmese) some years ago that kept developing kidney stones they finally did surgery and enlarged his uretha so he could pass them easily. He was a big baby and loved everyone in his family but woe to outsiders. He got out one time and when we found him in a neighbors yard he'd treed all three of their cats on their turf. On the other hand once when we brought home a very wee hairball of a kitten she jumped off the couch and landed on Tom Cat's back and I thought we would have a dead kitten. He rolled with her and started grooming her and she started nursing on one of his paw pads never stopped and they remained close until the day he died. I miss him now, he was all my cat for 15 years. His name was Mestopholes (sp) after the character in Faust but he was just Tom Cat or CAT! if he screwed up.

He would have enjoyed getting hair all over my kilts .
I wish all the best for Badger and you, may your years together be many.

Bill (yeah the other one in ND)
May all your blessings be the ones you want and your friends many and true.

I'll keep you and Badger in my thoughts, Bill. As I mentioned in the other recent cat post, I'd be lost without my little furry critters. I hope everything works out ok for you.

Thank you all for the kind words, wishes, and prayers. One can always be assured of the courtesy, consideration, and compassion from the folks here at XMarkstheScot.

I picked up Badger this morning at the emergency clinic and they were unable to get him unblocked. After a few attempts they had to drain his bladder with a needle to keep him alive. They anesthetize for that so it reduced his pain. He is now at his regular vet who will try again. If they are not successful he will have to have surgery today. Poor little guy couldn't stop rubbing his head on my hands when picked him up even though he was still groggy from the anesthesia.

Bill - thanks so much for telling me about Mestopholes. It was so very encouraging to hear of his success. I won't mind if Badger gets hair on my kilt as long as he is here to do it. This forum has given me plenty of ideas on how to remove it and I already have a few lint remover rollers to start with.

Thank you again. I'll let you know how things work out. Keep Knuckles in your thoughts too. I hope to hear about a happy renunion for him soon too.

    Cheers! Bill
