I have noticed that people are more accepting of kilts on the web and that's part of why I took the plunge. Also, at my age I should be enjoying myself and not worrying about whether other people approve. That sort of thinking is okay when you are younger but at my age I think it's sort of stupid. I mean, how much longer do I have on this earth, ten years or maybe twenty? It's time to stop worrying and just live life!

Along with the divorce I decided to let my hair go back to it's natural color which is almost all silver and I like it. Sure I look older but also wiser and more mature. I have to stop trying to be what others want me to be!

It sounds like Caradoc is in north Tempe/South Scottsdale. I am in Ahwatukee. Where are you? I work in Tempe just east of Sky Harbor Airport.

Well, my plans have totally changed. I really had second thoughts about this kilt I ordered so I called the UK people today and they said it wasn't in stock. SO......

    1. Because I cannot stand to wait for anything
    2. Because I will be out in the hot sun
    3. Because I have a fluffy tan-colored cat and hair all over the apartment

I changed my order to a tan UK original and they are shipping it today!

And so it begins: Gotta have your fix.

Also, good to note that you've changed your plans about "wearing it for late night desert walks," as you originally stated.

Welcome from Mid-Missouri. I'm 59 and started wearing kilts 10 months ago. It's really not that hard to wear a kilt in public. Everyone usually has some concerns about it at first, but the more you wear it the more confident you become. There is all kinds of support and knowledge available here. I think a UK is a good start, and as others have mentioned, you don't need all the accessories with a UK.

It's completely natural to be nervous about your first times out in public in a kilt. The great thing is that most people just ignore it. It's just like when a lot of guys started wearing earings or when getting an elaborate tatoo became popular - people get used to seeing you in a kilt and there are no comments behind your back. Most people ask very polite questions. My first couple of times out on a regular day included getting gas and stopping at the Post Office and drug store. Enjoy and be happy with the experiences.
