Thanks for all the great advice guys and I will I think in the future I will go regimental and see how it goes, but judging by what some of the guys have been saying so far it seems that once you go 'regimen'' you never want to go back!
As for the whole pants vs kilt in feeling more exposed, I agree that indeed jeans ( normal size ) can be more revealing than the kilt as, more often than not, they seem to always make a point of making your bulge the most prominent, and your **** as well. There is really nothing to hide any you may as well have body paint on. As where with a kilt, it is flowing and able to give a vloke a lot more modesty and comfort.

Just my opinion, so don't smash empty single malt bottles over my head...
I don't quite see going regimental in itself as that fantastic when one thinks of hygiene... In that department going regimental is a step back.
Though occasionally regimental, I don't particularly like setting a sweaty back-side down on my House of Edgar tank (darn, I used that expression I hate), and also
"No matter how you hop and dance - the last drop always wets your pants (read: kilt)"
Ah, of course, one would have to figure out the various effects of brief/regimental when interested in the opposite (or same) sex
Enjoy the freedom of choice - and welcome to the XMarks

And that Porrick is exactly why I so love my J'Dez Underkilts (Lucky to get them before the project imploded or whatever happened. Think there was just a post on the UK board that someone was still left without product after paying a long long time ago. The website is still up, but don't know if anyone is brave enough to send them money anymore).
And, wasn't someone on this board converting old t-shirts with a band of elastic?
Kind of the same purpose as a kilt lining, when there is one...only most kilt linings don't detach for washing.
These tartan boxers I get at WalMarche' are so cheap I'm thinking of cutting out the bottoms of a few to wear as an "underkilt" when I don't need the full boxer.

I am with porrick on this one, I dont see that going regimental detracts in any way from the Freedon you get when wearing your kilt, & as Rabbi Burns would say " no matter how much ya shake yer peg, the last wee dreg run doon yer leg

It is sort of pot luck the tartan my kilt is, as although it is kept in the family there are apparantly many variants of it around, so until my old man and mam get the exact details down pat they have opted to get me one that is sort of a traditional scottish design, with a dark green colour as the base of the kilt with the thatching consisted of a pale blue, white and red stripes.
My family and I have just recently gotten heavily into locating our Scottish ancestors and their side, so hopefully soon we will have the 'right' traditional pattern of our family's kilt.
About the 'regimental' advice, I am now stuck as to whether or not I will wear the black speedos underneath or just go bullock naked underneath, as my dad reckons that being a bloke means that we should be free from the hangups of nudity and be free about it ( basically locker room mentality here ) while my mam wants me to wear the speedo for ' just in case '.And regarding the effect the kilt has on both guys and girls in the attraction in a sexual manner as someone suggested - have any one of you been hit on by someone of the same sex while kilted as well as the female kind?

Interestingly enough I have been hit on by someone of the same sex when un-kilted (eh, read: wearing trousers) - but never experienced that while kilted.
The girls/ladies is, as you already know, a different matter. My wife and I get a lot of smiles from that... I enjoy the attention, and my wife is proud to have the guy who gets the most attention

I bet she is! I guess that is the power of the kilt!
