I saw them a few weeks ago, and bought the new CD - I like it, but (I don't want to sound like Eyore, but....) I kind of feel betrayed. They, like many before them, have turned their backs, at least partially, on the celtic sounds that got them recognised to begin with and have gone to a much more mainstream sound. While they still sound great, and I like the new CD, I wish they would stay more loyal to their celtic rock roots. I will continue to buy their CDs and go to see them live, just like I do 7N. I just hope that they remember the sound, and the people, that first bought their music and came to see their shows.

Just my opinion, which sounds much harsher in print that I actually meant it.

(scampers away to put ETH in the player in a sign of atonement)

Which of their CDs captures them at their best before they moved to a more mainstream sound?

"Live" (2004) is my favorite - it's the best of the best. "Casualties of Retail" still has a fair amount of celtic sound to it, but the latest, "Soapbox Heroes", while a great CD, has taken a decided turn toward mainstream rock. My opinion is anything of theirs that you get will be enjoyable, but if you're looking for their original celtic rock style, stick with "Casualties of Retail" and before.
