Kilt type
Not sure what type yet. I'm leaning toward the SportKilt in the Black Watch Tartan though. I do like the Utilikilt and the Amerikilt, though.
Thanks to all for the hello

If you've not done so, check out Rons comparison between Sport Kilt and USA Kilts.

Welcome from Jefferson City, Missouri. I think you will find that wearing a kilt in public is by far a non-issue. Obviously people will look. Sometimes you'll get some compliments. I wear a kilt full-time all around town. I can't even remember the last time anyone said a word - complimentary or otherwise. Just wear it with confidence and go about your daily business. I think you will be amazed at the comfort wearing a kilt affords.

I'll never forget the first weekend I wore my kilt - spent two hours walking from one end of this local tourist town to the other several times until I thought my feet would fall off, then went shopping the following day at several stores and a shopping mall....never got any comments at all. I decided either people were blind or they just didn't care but I sure had lots of fun so I ordered more kilts.

Welcome from the windy city! And skip the SK and got for a USKA or SWK instead. Similar price, immeasurably better quality.

Welcome.
My best friend from high school lives in VA (teaches at UVA) and he just attended my son's wedding, with his boys, and brother...all fully kilted.
Ah, what is more conservative than an Orthodox priest? (that's me)
A kilted Orthodox priest (that's me)
But I'm not the only one, am I Kiltman?

Welcome and Greetings from the Deep South!!!!!
Wear a kilt in Shanandoah and I bet you'll hear A LOT of "I've got one at home" and "I never thought of wearing it outside of (name formal event or games)."
MANY Scots settled in that area of Virginia (and the area next door that left and called itself "West Virginia"). AND a large number of these have kilts at home or want one. Be the conduit that helps other wear what they have or help the kilted wannabes become the kilted rabble of Virginia.

From my experience, I'd MUCH rather pay a bit more and get a USA Kilt, it will stay on the main rotation well after the Sport Kilt is in the "post-shower only" state. OR I'd look into Stillwater, not as good as Rocky's but still not bad either.
A Utilikilt seems to be good too, but only in solid. The "blue jean" of kilts. Personally, I prefer Tartan, but others rave over them. One day I might break down and get one.
