What will your grandchildren think?" etc etc. Bottom line, tattoos are fun. Tattoos are an expression. That expression does no necessarily have to be about who you ARE. That expression can be humour. That expression can be one of your passions. And, that tattoo can EVEN be an expression of your favorite garment. I read somewhere a lady tattooed a coat hanger on the back of her neck as a symbol of her love of fashion. Yes, the tattoo is there forever. So, thought (especially in regards to location on the body) should be weighed. If you're willing to wear that particular tattoo on said particular limb. By all means DO IT!
I guess bottom line is, don't take it all so seriously. Have fun with tattoos and your skin. Life is entirely too short to ask all of the "what if" questions. This doesn't mean that I think someone should go out and tattoo "F--- YOU" across the forehead or some other nonsense. Use good taste, and just enjoy it all for what it's worth.
I agree.
It's your body and your choice.

I have to agree with Colin. I'm not so sure I'd want a washroom symbol permanently marked on a prominant area of my body. There must be a least a few alternatives.

Hey Kilted KT,
Folks have offered some good and interesting advice about tattoos.
Here's an idea for ya...How about getting the letter "Q" with the outline of the letter done in a "celtic pattern"?
You will forever be the father of lil Quinn and it would be different...
Cheers,

If you want something on your calf and you ar eitching for ink, check out the Father knot which would look great with your son's name around the top and on your calf http://www.luckyfishart.com/fatherknot.html
some other alternatives:
Family circle http://www.luckyfishart.com/familycircle.html
Celtic Inheritance http://www.luckyfishart.com/cein.html
manhood knot http://www.luckyfishart.com/manhoodknot.html
Pat Fish has some awesome designs. I hope to use one of her designs one of these days.

I have to agree with Mike 1. I think that it is a lot of black and that will change as you get older and may indeed look like a blob. You could use the outline and have a tartan kilt. Of course it's really up to you and your tattoo artist.

ok, so I've decided that I want the tattoo shown in the link above, but I need another bit of advice. I want to make it more my own, so I am tossing aroung the idea of making the inset color red instead of greenish blue.
any thoughts?

Red would look good, or just having it black would be okay aswell. Remember this tattoo is for you, so don't worry to much about what everyone says, just make sure you like it.

thanks, dave. This is actually for my son, Quinn. When I have my second child, I am going to get another one on the other calf, with a different color.
thanks a lot, everyone. I'll be sure to post a pic when it is done.
