AHHH! Must not reach for wallet. Must resist. Need to save for a Kathy Lare tank. Thats just great. Jerry runs a sale on heavyweights when I have $200 for my next kilt set aside. Lucky he doesn't have a blackwatch 36'' with the Merino wool or I'd REALLY be havinga hard time of it. Thanks for the info though.

Oh, that's just dandy! Immediately before I was scheduled to start my, "How to avoid irresistible sales," courses and my "How to shop like hell without feeling too badly about it." rationale.

Got a solid Black econ and a Wallace Tartan econ, easy price - tough course! hehehe!
Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

As much as I really, really, REEEALLY want a shadow tartan in either black or saffron, and this is such a good price, and my AMEX card is inches away from my keyboard, I am remembering that the excess fabric has not been cut out of the pleats in the fell, and that 24" is just a wee bit long for me. I am trying to be good, and want to save my dough for something nice later in the year. My charge card bills are higher than I want them to be, anyway.

    (Because, for instance...)

A day after I brought home my new brown pinstripe suit, yesterday I found at Jos. A. Bank a "$700" suit for $225 in a color and pattern that is missing from my wardrobe, and an "$80" tie I loved when it was $80 for $20. I pick up the suit next week.

I gotta do something about this compulsive shopping!!! These sales are NOT helping!

    No new Stillwaters for me....

    for now...

36" Saffron will soon be in a box with my name on it, and it should be handed off to the Post office as soon as possible.

Is this your first? Kilt, not post, I mean, as that is evident (for now).

    Welcome.

Oh, how I can relate. I was trying to measure myself again and started thinking "well, it shouldn't be too long. Maybe I can have it blind-stitched to my length . . ." Good Lord I want an Irish Saffron . . . not now, unfortunately I've spent more than I should already in the last two weeks on things that aren't exactly essential (no matter how much I convince myself).

Hmm, maybe Rocky can get some Saffron in PV . . . now there's a thought

Rex, go for it buddy! The 24" will not be too long for you! Unless your pics so far are extremely misleading. One of the great things about a SWK, and kilts in general, is that an off the peg can be worn at a number of diferent heights, dpending on the stature of the gent, and look on all. Check out Auld Argonian's post on this. He has at least 1 SWK (nightstalker) and has no problem. Now, AA and I have met for a few events, and he is about (jump in John) 5' 7" - 5' 9". I am a solid 6' 3". AA wears his higher at a more traditional height. I wear more lower and closer to (but not directly on) the hips. So you can get wear one with no problem. I'll tell you what, get the Saffron (it will go well with the new brown belt!), and I will get the solid green one, and we will both post pics to show the comparison of the same length kilt on different height gents. And maybe I can get AA to post a similar pic!

    And maybe...

Hey AA, need a new kilt? Got a solid black one yet? That would round us out and we could show an SWK on 3 gents of different heights. Might help others to have a better feel for the SWK length.

Maybe Jerry would give us a discount for being models!
