Kilt No. 65 arrived today
Yes, my 65th was delivered this morning from 'Cornovi' in Cornwall. It is a full 8 yarder, 16oz wool in the Cornish National tartan and came complete with matching flashes, a St. Mylor Cross kilt pin and a Cornish sporran - a bumper bundle in fact!
Here are three photos taken very hurredly immediately after I removed the basting stitches. The first shows this delicious kilt being worn casually.....
The back , showing the neat pleating.....
Here it is, fully 'dressed up' with a GT Doublet et al.....
I still have to do research on the sporran which has 15 brass bezants and no tassels. It seems also that this is worn as both a day sporran and a dress sporran - I succumbed to wearing a chain for the latter as you will see.
Hawkeyes among you might notice that my dress belt has a Scottish thistle buckle - this is simply because it is the only dress buckle I have. Something else for my 'needs' list now! You might also have noticed the belt loops on the apron - in all my 55-odd years of kilt wearing, I have never come across this feature on a traditional kilt which, in all other respects, this is. Something else to check out - something peculiar to Cornish kilts, perhaps!

Oh, now that's just lovely! And in my favorite colors, too (Go Steelers!)
I do believe I'll have to acquire that tartan now!

As always Hamish . . . near perfect (thistle buckle aside). (You know that the Amish women, when they make their quilts, always deliberately place one piece upside down. They say so that people realize only God is perfect!)
Cheers!

Hamish,
The sporran design is based on the Banner of the Duchy of Cornwall.

Nice kilt Hamish. I have one in the Cornish Hunting tartan, which really just replaces most of the yellow with a dark green. I love it because I can simultaneously show off my Scottish/Cornish descent.
