I enjoy wearing the kilt even if I have no scottish origin, Maybe in an other life I was a Scot. :-)

My working companions and my beloved boss had mixed feeling looking at me and I wondered after if it was tacky to do that.

To get the feedback of my website visitors I ran a poll to get the right answer and here are the results :

    Yes it's tacky : 61 %
    No : 27 %
    Not sure : 12 %

I accepted gracefully the verdict but I disagree with it, but I would do it again anyway.

In fact the greatest resistance about wearing a kilt comes from my own family.
Since it was a Jacobean outfit, perhaps they saw it as too much like a costume. It might have been different if you had been kilted with a nice tweed jacket and other modern accessories.

That being said, it was your retirement party. Who cares what they think anymore?

I saw that photo Pierre. Can't see for the life of why anyone would have found it tacky at all. A good smart casual look and just fine for a party.
Wear it with confidence (but it looks like you do!).

And who could be more eligible to wear province of Quebec tartan than a québecois?

[p.s. found your hilarious site. Looks like that verdict just MIGHT have been a little tongue in cheek, could I be right?]

    Contrats on gifting yourself!

I'm all for the classic two word Anglo Saxon response to detractors...

Really jonesing for pics of the Quebec tartan kilt. A line of my ancestors spent a few generations in Quebec (Philipsburg) and I've had an interest in honoring them if/when my smoldering plastic cools off.
