wow! that's just plain weird in this day and age.....here where I live on Prince Edward Island.....we actually have kilted golf tournaments. where you HAVE to wear a kilt in order to play. We also have a "kilted mile" road race. Those are just two examples of kilted sporting events here that aren't highland games.

There's nothing wrong with that - I come a long line of crazy Irishmen ... and Scots ... and Englishmen ... and there may have a wacky Cornishman or two in there as well.

Good to hear that it worked out, and that your company president stepped up for you. Now get out there and enjoy "a good walk ruined," and do it kilted.

I wish I could get away with wearing a kilt to work. My boss might understand as he has a scottish last name but something about me being on a ladder wireing up som lil old lady's lights and a kilt seems like a bad idea to me.

    Glad it all worked out,

I do wonder what would happen if one was wearing a denim kilt to a course that had a no jeans policy.

I have read of several golf tournament that are played in kilts, perhaps some of our members are aware of others.

Navycb, It's really great the president of your company went to bat for you. Now you can enjoy the very frustrating game of golf.

    kilted Golf

Went for a round last friday. I'm no golfer but had fun none the less. At least it is a day outside...it was a company tourney. kilts went over well. I'm the gent on the left..The fellow next to me is 6ft. 10in. There is a kilt for him. Glad it all turned out well for you.

    No Problems

I wear tartan and non-tartan kilts golfing all the time. I am always welcomed with open arms at all the courses I have played. Most are excited by someone wearing and playing golf in the traditional fashion. More people engage me in conversation while kilting than if I was in pants. Tell the starter or whomever that you are offended by some of the long baggy shorts that some people are wearing. And as you asked, are there not women wearing skorts and skirts? Ask where the dress code is posted and what does it say? See if there are any old photos around the proshop or clubhouse with men in kilts and point them out to him. Be tactful about it but go on the offensive.

I've not been on the greens kilted...yet. I assure you all that I'll not have a club in my hand 'less I've got a kilt on, being that I've vanquished the few pair of golf-acceptable shorts to the goodwill bin!
