    Metal workers Chime In

Are any of the metal workers interested in developing a buckel that might fill a niche?

I'm not a big fan of the large kilt belt buckels with all the ornamental etching and decoration. I like my stuff, simple and earthy when possible.

The buckel I want to find is similar to this one on ebay

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

What I like about this one is the squareish shape and the hammered texture giving a rough antique look. I also like the Center bar configuration.

I don't care for the wavy edge.

If someone could do this buckel in pewter or something of a pewter color and then hammer it

    What would that cost?

Not a metal worker myself but...

Maybe the seller of the piece you note from eBay could be pursuaded to make one from scratch or alter an existing piece? If their marketing info is legit, they claim to cast all of the pieces themselves in Boise. Your desire isn't far off the existing buckle so it may be an easy mod for them. Their e-mail address is on the item listing page somewhere.

You could also look into purchasing those buckles and having them plated in any metal of your choosing. Nickel plating is very inexpensive and leaves a nice (not chrome) finish. O'Neille

    Here's a hand-forged iron buckle:

You could polish it up, or not...!

I can cast such a buckle from pewter.

When I cast it in sand and give it a patina bath it will look pretty antique

Cost will depend on the weight...I guess I need 150 to 200 grams pure pewter....uhm...uhm...$15 for 2.25" belt width.

    Hey Robin,

    I'm interested as well.

Would you be intersted in casting a "round buckle" similar to this picture:

I'll take some close ups & do a little bit of measuring tonight and post them.

The buckle as an "indent" on opposite side of the pin to give the look of a brooch pin when buckled.

    Cheers,
