Suggestion in case the forum crashes again
I have added a throwaway email adress to my signature, so that I can be contacted, if anyone is interested, should the forum crash again. It is one ehich I would only use for that, so I do not care if it gets spammed. Maybe everyone should do the same, then at least we could communicate to see if anyone knows what is happening. If enough members start doing this, we can all save the adresses as a document file and be able to try and find out what is happening in case of a crash again.

I've thought the same thing. I'm fortunate, in that I have records of those who purchased my sporran straps so I'd be able to reach them.
I'll toss in a backup email also.

To prepare everyone - if you post an e-mail address, it is likely going to be overwhelmed with spam. I strongly recommend that if you choose to include an addy that it be one you won't mind having spammed.

filter it
Even more precisely, one many invoke the filters that permit only specific sender addresses through. It is of course an additional step. I could copy/paste member's e adrs's and put them on the filter list of friendly senders with "ok to receive from" status. This would eliminate spam and would reveal any spammer member whom could then be removed from my ok list.

I found out about the Problem at the Bravehearts forum. that's an option for emergency commo. No email addresses needed.

I think it's unlikely that this site will just up and disappear for good one day without warning. So, if it's down, it must be for some cause, which I trust our host will be working to rectify as soon as possible. I followed my nose yesterday and assumed, correctly, that someone would post a "Where's X-marks" message on kiltmen.com, where I also found a quick, self-help repair. I was up and running in no time at all.

I did the same thing. I think of that as sort of our "brother site" and closely related to this one.

Mike, Like I said, I created a new throw away addy specifically for this. Like you I advise everyone else to do the same. The only thing Hotmail requires to keep an account live is to check it about once or twice a month.
