What is wrong with being able to get something as good as a Utilikilt at WalMart for a third of the price and not needing to wait three months? I don't see why that would be a bad thing.

Darrell
Where I work, we all sit at desks in cubicles and we talk on the phone to our customers.
It is supposed to be 108 degrees outside today.
Women are told they can wear pants or skirts or dresses without pantyhose, just bare legs - and are told to whatever makes them comfortable.
Men are told to wear Dockers....period.....

A kilt made from cotton twill ( Freedomkilts for example) could be considerd Scottish Dockers.

As far as that goes, why does UK call their inside-pocket-model the "Mocker"?

My understanding is that it's sort of like their version of "mock-Dockers," hence "Mocker."

To some degree I am sensing three groups of people here:
1. I am Scottish and I wear my kilt only sometimes because I want to display my pride in my heritage, kilts are already popular.
2. I am not Scottish and I don't wear Scottish kilts but by golly I will wear what I want to wear and when I want to wear it and I don't care what anyone thinks.
3. I am not Scottish and I just think that kilts are comfortable and cool and I would like the freedom to wear them anywhere and anytime and wish they were accepted as a CHOICE for men, an alternative to trousers.
Now as you might have guessed I am in group number three. My friends all think I am crazy, when people see me in a store they look at me like I'm from another planet and if I were to wear a kilt to work I would probably be fired - or might at least sabotage my career.
So.....I think from that point of view we have a long road ahead of us but many people have told me this is NOT a crusade and we are NOT really trying to accomplish some goal so perhaps I'm on the wrong page.....or maybe just living 60 years too early.

Utilikilts will go under because Walmart is selling them. Do you want that?

Phil,
You keep mentioning "freedom" as part of the appeal for you to wear kilts, yet you seem surprised that not all kilt-wearers share your goals/beliefs for kilt-wearing. That is part of the "freedom" of kilt-wearing as well; a different spectrum of reasons for wearing a kilt, and a mutual respect for those differences. I am not a "modern/contemporary" kilt person by any means, but I still respect those who do wear them, just as I ask for the same respect returned for my traditionalist reasons (honouring my Scottish ancestors) for wearing my kilt.
Regards,
Todd

guys, my favorite music group is one that will NEVER catch on in the mainstream. (or have they?) so if kilts never catch on, it won't bother me. (i still have to get one though. i'm such a cheap bastard)
