Just to add my final word on this sad and sorry business - and I extend my sincere regrets to Sandy that he should have been treated in this appalling manner by, whom I take to be, a fellow country-person of mine (although that is difficult to determine in this day and age!).
My one transaction with this Company, whilst processed faultlessly, will be my last.
Throughout the six weeks or so of my dealings with them, I did not have the dubious 'pleasure' of speaking with this 'lady' or any other - my order was taken over the telephone, very efficiently and courteously, by a young-sounding chap by the name of Logan. I called again a week or two later, to place my additional order for the decorative sporran chain, and spoke with Colin. It was Colin who subsequently called me back to advise me that my complete order was being despatched that day........ and it was.
I have passed their shop many times, but never ventured in since it looks slightly 'touristy' (but not as badly so as 'Heritage of Scotland' and the other Gold Brothers shops in the same area).
As a word of warning, The Scottish Store trades under the following:
www.scottishstore.com , www.scottishbride.com , www.scottishgroom.com , www.edinburghkilts.com , www.masonicstore.com and www.castlekilts.com - which all seem to lead to the same website!!!

Now that they have been blackballed here, I wonder how much impact we really have on them? I wonder how long it will be before they either close up or come here begging forgiveness....

Impact? You're surely joking, right?
Do you have any idea of how many tourists walked the streets of Edinburgh today, alone? Have you passed by any of these shops to see the numbers of people that are lining up to spend their cash? By mid-morning on a busy day, a lot of these shops have people waiting to get inside. I seriously doubt that you could find a fraction of these tourists that have ever heard of this forum.
I wouldn't be holding my breath for either of your mentioned eventualities to come about.

for some reason I missed the part where they were IN Edinburgh. That negates anything I previously mentioned.
that is like setting up a water vendor in the middle of the desert...

Sure is. At least all of us are safe.
Almost tempted to pop past in December when I am back home and see what this place is all about.

Exactly.
It's always good to keep forum members aware of the good and the bad vendors, but I'm sure this place won't miss the money any of us might have spent with them.

Yes, KT, I am afraid they are in a prime position, just two or three hundred yards down from Edinburgh Castle Esplanade, at the top of The Royal Mile - right opposite the old church now known as The Hub.

wow...even the worst vendor in known history can have a very successful shop with such a prime location!!!
the good thing is, the more people provide negative or positive reviews here about various vendors, the more people surfing for scottish clothing and accessories will stumble upon us via Google or some other web search engine BEFORE buying from them online!

Just think how much more successful they would be if they appreciated their customers enough to treat them with the courtesy and respect they deserve.
