I was looking at the Razr phones last week and was warned by 2 different sellers to stay away from them. A third vendor couldn't praise them enough. I ended up with a Sony Ericsson Z520... seems to work well enough so far.
There don't seem to be too many basic phones left 4 sale these days.
As for PDAs... With some folks they're a status symbol... for others they're just another link in the chain to the office desk. No thanks. Forget bluetooth as well.

Actually, someone I know who is pretty well placed with a communications company also expressed his doubts about the RAZR. His contention was that the battery was just too physically small to be able to keep the damn thing running for any reasonable period of time. I noted that he had a Samsung phone for himself...

Well I'm no expert but I do play one on TV. (hehehehehe) had to say it.
I work for a huge Telecom Company - Think nine years with one whose name starts with and "N" and now since the year old merger the name starts with an "S".
I wouldn't touch a PDA phone simply because I refuse to bring that much work home with me. I also wouldn't touch a Razor since I've heard many bad things about them. I will not recommend any phone BUT I will recommend a website: www.phonescoop.com as one of the best review sites I've run across. Keep in mind that vendors DO post and some of the reviews are a bit biased. Read ALL reviews and take them with a grain of salt and you should be able to discern some really good info. (Ok, really bad grammer but I'll let it stand)
Good luck!

Well, Ok I WILL say this -- of all the reviews I've read at phonescoop.com the Sanyos get the best. I'll be buying a phone soon. Since because of deep employee discounts I really don't have a choice of carrier but I do with phones. Samsung is hitting the top of my list.
Again, good luck!

I'm gonna keep the blackberry!
As I sit here at the kitchen table typeing this on my PDA I can't help but feel a little giddy! How cool is it that I can now get onto Xmarks when ever where ever I want to! I'm still getting used to the way I have to type but. I'm learnin fast! I made deal with the missus that if I got internet that I would quit chewing tobacco. Fair trade me thinks. Also I can get IM's on here! It was never about staying in touch with work. I just need some orgunization. *sp* as I have half himers and I'd lose a few things if they weren't atached

Further-
That Motorola 120 also took 2 separate drenchings ("Ker-Plunk"..."Oh NO!!!").
both times just took the battery out, dried it out, used compressed air from the compressor ("You're not really gonna do that, are you, sweetheart??") and it worked like a champ afterwards.
I don't think the Nokia will be that resilient.

1. No connectivity at my house. Have to walk out in the street to get 1 bar sometimes. Mind you I can almost throw a rock and hit the nearest elementary school (only 1 bar there, btw).
2. We went from a district issued Motorola 120(?) stick phone that was sturdy and easy to use (with voice dialing) to a Nokia 6061 'flip phone' that wouldn't take one drop and has a controls/menu setup designed by someone who obvoiusly doeesn't use that phone. The Nokia also has no voice dialing, making a need to use it hands-free while driving (being safe-hands free, remember?) requires me to pull over to initiate the call!
3. The District says we are stuck with them-no upgrades. ![Shocked](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif) We ahve to wait 2 years to get a new phone unless we pay out of our pocket!
I can feel for anybody that has been hosed by a cell phone co. over equipment or service.

BTW-just looked-no bars, as usual!! ![Evil or Very Mad](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_evil.gif)
I either have to use my climbing tree stand and climb a tree or drive about a mile from my home to get service. However, I have yet to find a carrier that has service at my home. Surprisingly most of the companies that I have asked tell me the truth. The one that did say they "might have service", said I could try it for 30 days. I already knew they probably didn't because the contractor that built my house used them and he didn't have service. I just stayed with my regular compant, Sprint, and the new phone I have now will at least, access digital ( only one bar) roaming.

I've been really lucky with my cell phone. I have a Motorola flip phone that's a few years old (can't recall the model #) that works great! Lots of features, too. I can make calls with it, I can receive calls with it. Ok, ok...I can access the internet with it and text message supposedly, but I have no desire to do that. I got it as strictly to use as a phone, and only for emergencies and work related calls.
My crappy day happened this past week...
Tomorrow (Sunday) is the annual motorcycle Toy Run charity event. Two years ago it was rained out. Last year I had to work. This year the weather looks fantastic and I have the day off. Woohoo!!
Well, last week the rear brake on my bike started to make noise so I took it apart to replace the pads. Turns out the caliper is shot. Didn't have time to get a new caliper and replace it yet due to my work schedule.
A perfect day for the Toy Run and I have nothing to ride! Arrrgggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!
Oh well, I'll spend the day taking everything apart again so I can replace the caliper on Monday.
However, like pbpersson said...all it takes to settle me down after a frustrating day is to have one or both of our cats curl up on my lap for awhile.
