Nice kilt, looks to be well constructed.

    That's sharp!

I like it, amigo. My poor tired old eyes can't make out the old rank insignia, though----are those corporal's, or sergeant's stripes?

Man, I just HATE guys who can do this sort of thing (and I mean that in the very nicest way possible!) . . .

Your eyes are better than you think, they are Sergeant stripes.

I think that the hardest part of making these is just jumping in and getting started. If you have a little patience, I think anyone can do these types of kilts. That being said, I am not sure I would ever try a traditional kilt without some type of formal instruction.

    Nice work Scott,

No clue how you guys do it...

I have one of the old AmerKilts tiger stripe camo kilts. They just went ahead and ran the stripes vertically.

Probably too distant to see much, but might give you an idea what it would have looked like vertical....think you made the right choice though.

That's rather neat. I usually don't care for camo (outside of it's uses for concealment), but tigerstripe is more or less my favourite pattern.

Out of curiosity, those of you who own camo kilts... ever wear them for hunting? Would you? Just a thought... a way to use the garment both as comfort, and as a more practical application of the fabric.

Don't wanna steal Gallowhill's thread, but since he likes camo too...

I don't hunt ('xept for some humans back in my cop days). I do love camo though. Because its "jaunty" looking, especially for hiking. Think sometimes it comes in handy for hiking if one want to avoid other folks in the boonies.

Have the AmeriKilt Tiger Stripe camo above, a Forest MARPAT and a Desert MARPAT from Pittsburgh Kilts (that hopefully I'll be skinny enough to wear again some day), a CADPAT and a Desert Camo from Freedom Kilts (also need to slim down to wear them again), and the Utilikilts original in woodland camo.

Strangely, though they're all different camo patterns they all camo up pretty well in the scrub of the canyonlands. The most amazing camo fit is the CADPAT, who'd ever think a digital camo pattern made for the Canadian Forests would work so well down here in the high desert scrub.

Well, I don't really hunt anymore, but I am still an 'outdoor' person, hiking, biking and whatnot. I will definately be wearing it on my next hike.
I would wear it hunting if the weather permitted it though. I have memories of freezing my bum off though, so at least around here, it might not be very practical.
Being somewhat new to the kilt, I must admit I have reservations on wearing it to the shooting club I belong to, let alone a hunting trip. I suppose those feeling go away after a while and I get more confident in the kilts.

I just finished my fourth non-trad in digital woodland camo and intend on wearing it bowhunting next weekend. It's still pretty warm here, so it should feel great after a few hours in my ladder stand.

As an addendum...I wore my digital camo kilt to a 3-D archery competition yesterday. The usual camo and jeans crowd. There were a few double-takes and s-word comments, all in good fun, but otherwise nothing out of the ordinary. A nest of angry yellow jackets that had been freshly dug out by a skunk did have me moving double-time down the trail, but otherwise I was one comfortable archer.
