    Scot American tartan today

This thread may get deleted, but I'll risk it. Today I wear the Scot American tartan with red hose and white shoes. I do so in remembrance of the events on this day 5 years ago. Today the belt/sporran will not match the color of the shoes.

I won't forget anything that happened that day. I was waiting to go to the funeral of one of my best friends who had died of cancer. Staring openmouthed at a TV while my roommtes were wondering was this for real? No I don't think any of us are going to forget. If I wasn't going to get reall dirty today I would wear my Irish American. Good idea! Wil do so after work!

I remember like it was yesterday. Turned on the TV to catch the local news and they had live coverage of the tragedy. I was late for work...I was sitting watching it unfold with tears streaming down my face.

    Never forget.

That day still seems surreal. And I can hardly believe it was that long ago. The images are still so vivid. A moment to reflect would be appropriate. O'Neille

I believe you mean "Scottish-American tartan." It's a beautiful tartan! Is yours a traditional kilt?

It's a 16 oz, worsted wool, five yarder made to measure in Scotland. I like the 16 oz five yard kilts because of the nice weight distribution between the front and the back of the kilt. For 8 yard kilts I drop down to 13 oz. I have several herniated discs in my back. Makes it a little easier to handle the weight in the back of the kilt.

I'm with you. I wore my New York Tartan 5 yard from M.A.C. Newsome and the Tartan Museum. It just seemed appropriate.

    The New York Tartan
New York Tartan The colours and design of the New York tartan have a specific image and meaning and were specially selected. The light blue represents the Hudson river, the green symbolises the lush green pastures of Central park, at the heart of Manhattan. The dark blue signifies the Marie Curie cancer care and red that of Gilda`s Club Worldwide. The two black lines, designed in a cross, offer a sign of condolence in memory of those who died on September in the Twin Towers tragedy.
    The tartan.

    The tartan.
That is a beautiful tartan, Barclay. The meaning is indeed most appropriate, especially today. Good on ya for wearing it.
