AK sizing?
I bought an AK, measuring myself according to their site's instructons. It's way too big. I wear a 38 waist normally, and my AK size ended up a 42. Should I ask for a size 38? What has been your experience with their sizes?

It depends on what you mean buy wearing a size 38. If 38 is your pants size that is not your kilt size. If 38 was the measurement you got by measuring according to the AK instructions, then yes, you would need a size 38 kilt. Usually a kilt size will be at least 2 or more inches larger than a pants size.
All the AK's I purchased were right on the mark on waist size. Hope this helps.

I have 2 AK's. I typically wear 36" jeans but measured 38". The 38" AK was too big, 36" was perfect.

If it's just a bit too big, washing it in the warm cycle will take it down an inch or so. Got an AK I can wear when I lose some (more) weight...

Its always a hassle to get that first kilt from a new kiltmaker the right size.
I got lucky with Mike and hit it. You might doublecheck to see that its the size its labeled.
You might talk to Mike, he's a cool guy and might just exchange it for what you need.

Spoke with Mike via email. I'm sending this one back to exchange. Problem is, I want one to take with me on a trip on Sat. I'm hoping if I order one over the phone on Monday, he can have one to me by Friday - takes about 3 days to reach me from PA. Can't hurt to have 2, right?

big AK's
may your kilts always fit loose..
i've had problems with kilts being too big or small, but can live well with the too big..
cinch that belt up tighter..
and be careful how high your arms go when tossing a caber, lest your kilt shine your shoes, and show the jewels..
but you'll win a ribbon anyhow..
and not some small applause.
if you complain to your girlfriend about the inconsistancy of fit to measure, between your waist and hips, you'll get plenty of sympathy, and a wry grin...
i just still wish stillwater allowed for 21 and 22's, at least AK makes ammends.
