Yes, forced is the word. I had actually thought I had taken enough to not be in this situation but the Army is good at making sure you know that no-one is indispensable. I'm sure a few doses of Scotch, some haggis, and a week kilted will be a suitable treatment for the shock.

Being forced to spend time in Scotland is a punishment?
I would call it a reward!

My sympathies go out to you. But not vary far. Wish someone would force me to take leave/vacation in Scotland

Yes Glasgow is great and you might like to spend more time there - but, then, so's the countryside round Dumfries. A hard choice. Just adds to your punishment
Have a great time. I'm sure you will.

ay! A stay at the Ferintosh is must (says I who was there over the week-end...)
Thanks again Robertson and Emma for making my first visit to Dumfries an excellent experience!!!
You'll probably beat me to posting pictures, as I won't be back in Norway for another week (!)
Two points:
#1: an Xmarker that checks in to the Ferintosh is on a pilgrimage (as I proudly see it)
#2: when ordering breakfast, make sure you order the "web site breakfast"

Don't ever let anyone you work for (or even your own mind) make you think you are indispensable; it's simply not true. After all, if something tragic happened to you, they would get by.
If you are truly indispensable, the following is the case:
1) You can never take a vacation because the worksite will fall apart without you.
2) You cannot be promoted, because you are needed in your current position.
3) You cannot retire, because you can't be replaced.
It's also taught in leadership classes, that if you are a supervisor and can't take time off because your employees can't do the job without you, then you are not doing your job as a supervisor.
Take your leave, you've earned it! And it certainly must be nice to be able to take a few days and hop over to Scotland.
