I'll have to start keeping my last fridays of the months free for a trip to Belmont. On DcB, I'm using the Hooker trans, because the revised Burgess (my fav) is $25, and the students pay so much for text books, and the Hooker is a fine translation (just not the best) but it can be had for $6. I already have issues with my students not being able to afford the books, so I try really hard to keep them cheap (when I can)
Cheers
Chris
I look forward to meeting you. The Hooker version is fine ($25 for the Burgess!!! )

Welcomefrom the San Francisco Peninsula!
It's been years since I read Cyrano, but I read the play three times in High School...it's a a stroke of genius!

Welcome from a former No-Cal (Sacto), but now in NJ (almost PA).
My brother got married in Fowler many moons ago!
Have a great time with Cyrano! It deals with many of the same issues as we as kilt wearers do!
Except kilt wearers attract the ladies!

No play that I am aware of marries action, humor, romance, and tragedy so well. We both admire Cyrano and feel sorry for him. But we most importantly identify with him.
A few Favorite Quotes
Ragueneau (on Cyrano's Swordsmanship) : "That blade is one of the blades of Destiny's scissors"
Cyrano (drawing his blade in his duel with Valvert) :
"Lightly I toss my hat away
Languidly over my arm let fall
The cloak that covers my bright array--
Then out swords, and to work withal!"
Cyrano (on hearing that Roxana loves Christian and her comments on his courage in battle with 100 of De Guiche's men): "Believe me, I've done better than that since then"
To all those out there unfamiliar with Cryano de Bergerac either see the play, read the play, or watch either the Jose Ferrer or Gerard Depardieu film version.
Sorry Chris, didn't mean to hijack your thread!
Again, welcome to X Marks
