Now Committed to doing the Great North Run

Earlier in the week my fundraising pack arrived and today my running number and race entry pack were waiting when I arrived back from court. So I will need to continue with my long hikes in the coming weeks to ensure I will be fit to go the thirteen miles from Newcastle to South Shields on Sunday 1st October. For this event I am planning to wear a lightweight all black polycotton Mercy Kilt. There are usually around two or three hundred kilted participants, of a total entry of around forty thousand. I am planning to take part as a fundraiser for Chest, Heart and Stroke, Scotland. Their volunteers have been very helpful and take my dear wife Ann to a local hall for mental and physical stimulation for two hours every Monday while I'm making the weekly visit to the supermarket. I wish you well for the run. When we lived in Northumberland I had a bunch of friends who did the Great North. I never did it myself, but did quite a few half marathons (Tynedale, Cumbria etc). I'm not quite up to that distance at the moment. Enjoy!
