Kilt Sighting in Maryland
I was shocked and amazed that, while at a restaurant/bar at the local mall with some friends, I saw three men walking around the mall wearing tartan kilts . One I could identify as a Hunting MacLeod tartan. I didn't get a good enough look at the others to try and tell which they were.. Of course I was kilted too but I was having a local microbrew with some friends... Interestingly enough, the beer was called "Twisted Kilt"..

Arundel Mills. Right by BWI Airport.
Been to the Renn Fest this year? In years past they've had people selling kilts.. I was wondering if that was the case this year, too.

Well I don't know boys and girls... I haven't seen a kilt worn casually outside of a highland games situation now for a considerable length of time.
I'm almost tempted to liken kilt sightings to UFOs. Elusive, fleeting, vague... are they really out there? or is it some kind of hoax?
It would be nice to see someone other than myself taking the initiative to strut their stripes around town once in while.

LOL.. That was THE FIRST kilt sighting that I've experienced, myself. My friends thought I was crazy or something because I was so shocked.

I was up in Baltimore but did not stop in Arundel Mills on the way home. I did not do the Renn Fair this year. Next weekend is the Celtic weekend at Renn Fair. But also the Construction Equipment Rodeo above Baltimore.

LOL I'm almost tempted to classfy it as an "out-of-kilt experience"

I'm in Maryland as well. I've been great kilted at the Renn Fest for the last 10 years or so.
Incidentally, the place there that sells kilts is Wolfstone Kilts where I got my Black Watch great kilt that I've been wearing lo these many years. They are a good outfit offering belted plaids as well as fitted plaids, and a host of other tartan wear. I was lucky enough to get my kilt from them the first year they were there, I believe it cost $80 back then. I think their prices have gone up since then though..
I've been kilted all over Anne Arundel county in that thing, and more recently in my UK. Never hit the mall though. For you Marylanders out there, I heard of a place in Annapolis that has a "Come kilted, drink free" night on Sundays. I haven't found out yet which one it is, but I will!
There are also two pretty nice Celtic / British specialty stores in the downtown Annapolis area if anyone's interested.

A Wolfstone's Kilts Wool or acrylic? I may have to go in the next couple of weeks just to check them out.
I live in AA county and wear my kilts every day.. Even to work..
Let me know about the bar in Annapolis..
