that's great, Panache!
I don't know how I'd respond in that situation at all, I'd be far to embarassed/ecstatic to be that calm about it

Ok, the question begs asking - what were you wearing?

Not to throw cold water on this grand experience, but I was curious. When he said “piece of history” was he referring to you or the kilt?
At this point Seattle Vince deftly ducks a number of thrown objects flying in his general direction.
All kidding aside; that sounds like a great encounter. I like it when I run into people that not only appreciate the kilt, but also the people who wear them.

And he said nothing about the tonic? Unbelievable. I'm flabbergasted.

Hey, tonic is a vital component of Gin & Tonic... Which, according to Douglas Adams is a name that every alien species uses for a drink.... the drink is different, and the spelling may change, but they've got one...
Sorry for the hijack, back to your regularly scheduled post:
I love it when I see people who are educating their children about the diversity we find in life... He could have just as easily pointed, laughed, and told his kids boys shouldn't wear skirts...

Rex,
The tonic water was unadorned, without the gentle prescence of gin and slice of lime it escaped his notice.
Bonnie T100,
Was wearing my SWK Hunting Mcleod, SWK braided sporran, ecru hose, red flashes, turtleneck, a jean jacket, and apparently a confident attitude.
Vince,
I'm 38 years old. But I am a stay at home dad with a 6 1/2 year old son and a 3 3/4 year old daughter, so it might be a case of it not being the age , but the mileage  .
Cheers
