    Right place, right time!

I had been looking for a new sewing machine to replace the S.O.'s elderly Singer Fashion Mate. I work for a local school district (maintenance). A site's staff were emptying out a storage building slated for demolition. Amongst the detrius in the room was a Rex 26-188 Industrial Sewing Machine. They said to take it or they will dump it. They didn't have to twist my arm!

I had to shorten the belt a little and lube up the machine a little, but it works. It may need a tuneup (it makes a light knocking noise when it runs) but the price is right-$0.00!!

It also has a true walking foot-just what I wanted for the camo kilt in progress. No more uneven stitching!

Hey, ya can't get much better than free... aside from someone paying you to take it away.

This sounds like quite a substantial piece of equipment. I'm just guessing but I would imagine that it would sew fairly heavy materials. A quick google search turned up a source for a manual for the machine. Don't know if this is of any use but here it is....

Scroll down to your make and model.

    Best of Luck!

    Blu-

It plowed through 1/4" of belt leather like it wasn't there!

Thanks for the link for a manual. I am somewhat familiar with this one but a manual would be nice to have.

Made a size comparison for replacement parts-it uses Singer bobbins! Yay! Now to find a local source for needles......
