Yeah, she was in her flip flops and sweats, and buying a bevy of lottery tickets. At least she knew it was a Kilt. In all, I think she was hedging towards the politely intrigued end of female Kilted curiosity.

Agreed that the other two don't deserve my time.

As a native Marylander, I agree with the comments in the opening statement. The area around the Ren Fest site is a rural area and is kicking and screaming into this century. I don't even like to work in that area. So, give us another chance. Just don't go to Anne Arundel Co. Stick closer to Baltimore and the 95 corridor. More cosmopolitan and open to different cultures.

Problem is that I'm Anne Arundel County born & bred, and I live there. So that's where I'll be kilting it up.

There are exceptions to every rule. Sorry. I came up Rt 3 from Upper Marlboro today on the way home from work. Stopped at a fast food joint north of Bowie for a snack. The young girl at the counter was very surly to me. I just walked out. The manager followed me to the door. Ijust said I chose not to eat here. Never been cussed at by a store manager. Oh Well. Shoulda turned down the opportunity to drive that far for a service call. But you are always welcome in Westminster.

Was it a National fast food joint? If so I would write to the corp. Hq. with a quick note about the incident, ruin his day, like he ruined yours.

    Talking Thank You!

    Passerby: "Nice skirt."
    Kilted person: "Thank you."

Enough said. The person who is calling it a skirt, knows it's a kilt. Just smile and say, "Thank you", with a grin/smile on your face. We know how comfortable we are.

    Thumbs down

Yes, the lack of culture is abundant. But, I assure you it reaches much further than the state lines of Maryland.

When we left, we stopped in a shopping center about a block from my house, everyone else was exhausted, so I was elected to go into the store and grab a few things.

As I got out of the truck, I heard someone in a passing car say...."Nice dress"

When I got to the counter in the store, there was some housewife type standing there who sparked up the following conversation...

SHE "Y'know, I've never actually seen anyone in a kilt before"
    ME: "Well, now you have."
    SHE "Don't you feel funny?"
    ME: "Not at all"
SHE "Well, I don't feel funny in my sweatpants and flip flops"

Paid for my stuff, and walked out of the store. As I was walking back to the truck, some hag passing through the parking lot said "Nice skirt" I turned and saw who had said it, she was wearing a nice smirk on her face that quickly disappeared when I just looked away from her and said "idiot"

I never thought there would be so many uncultured assholes around here. Guess I'll have to wear my SWK to the store alot more often to make sure they are properly educated.

I know how you feel.. I live in the LEAST cultured section of Anne Arundel Co. and hear it all the time.. I just consider the source.
