I'm with Alabama Kiltie on this one. I live in a fairly conservative suburb of Atlanta but I still wear mine. The only difference is I wear a UK and not a tartan kilt so I get the comments a bit more. I do as Cirthalion suggests and wear my sporran with it all the time unless I am at home. It more forces people to realize it is a kilt. I still get the occaisional "nice skirt" comment but I don't let it phase me. I have several replies for that and really could care less what their opinion is because I was raised better in that when you can't say something nice, it shouldn't be said.
