Depends on your point of view.

I think when next we hear from that august gentleman, the count will be 72!
Convener, Georgia Chapter, House of Gordon (Boss H.O.G.)
Where 4 Scotsmen gather there'll usually be a fifth.
7/5 of the world's population have a difficult time with fractions.

That's about how I feel too. When I first started, I wanted to buy one from every vendor and kiltmaker. Now I have 2 casuals and one traditional. I am ok for the time being.

what the ideal number should be..
a plain canvas for everyday,
one wooly for dress,
one phillibeg/casual tartan for weekends..
a skinny kilt
a fat kilt..( your woman will understand this)
when one gets worn , a new one..
a bar crawler kilt...
one irish.. for st pats..

I think it depends much on how often you wear the kilt.
As a full time kiltwearer, I like a choice in kilts for work, play, chu**h, hiking, then - summer/winter, windy conditions and so on.
The more you have, the more choice you have.
This must be balanced against income, other financial commitments, and the fact that a mans' life is more than what he wears or what he eats.
I have about 17 with 2 more to come. That may be it for me (or so my wife says)
