Prince of Wales tartan USA Casual Kilt

The Prince of Wales tartan is a fashion tartan using the colors of the Welsh Flag, its a pretty one. Had mine made up as a USA Kilts casual. If I had it to do it again would have done a semi-traditional...think it'd be beautiful.

Grabbed a couple pics. First was actually on the second day in a row of wearing it to drive down to Phoenix and back plus knocking around in it. So there are a lot of hours on the pleats and the wind was blowing. Was taken at Camp Creek just North of the Fort McDowell Reservation off Hwy 87, Arizona.



That's the wind, not pleat curl on the left. Wrinkles are from hours of sitting though.

Next one was taken the day before on Forest Service Road 3, the back road from Flagstaff to Clint's Well and Hwy 87. Its from the South side of Mormon Lake looking North at the San Francisco Peaks.

Once again you're freaking me out with your pics. I can tell almost exactly where those were taken. My old stomping grounds.

And that's a great shot of the San Francisco Peaks. Most people don't realize that it is actually an extinct, sideways blown-out volcano, similar to Mount St. Helens. Cool stuff.

Looked it up and found this.

The beautiful San Francisco Peaks were named in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi. It was the teachings of St. Francis that inspired the practice of 'traveling' friars. Francis also taught that nature was to be observed and admired. In this vast desert of New Spain, the Peaks stood out as an oasis of hope and inspiration. When the Franciscan monks established Spanish missions in the Hopi villages of Northern Arizona, they named the jagged holy mountain after the 13th Century friar

Makes sense, they've very prominant in the area. Every different Indian tribe has a name for them and they are often part of origin stories.

I like that tartan a lot, Ron. I found a wee bit of Welsh down my mothers side (Faulk.) Perhaps, this one is in order. My wish list is pretty long though.

Thanks! I had put my face on there, but I got tired of seeing my grumpy look every time I logged in so I changed it. My daughter has been watching this show over and over lately and I thought, "What the heck, Avatar, that would be cool." Besides, it looks more like I actually feel behind this face of mine. (It's a cool show, too.)

Looks good Ron! Got Welsh in me as well and just trying to decide which Welsh tartan to get.

There are some lovely Welsh tartans and my first Welsh Tartan (Roberts) will be with me on Friday - the Welsh Tartan Centre are sending it to my Edinburgh hotel (bless them!)

I have yet to see a piccy of Charles, Prince of Wales (Y Twyssog Cymru) wearing the Prince of Wales tartan. He never wears a kilt on his visits to Wales and clearly he needs to be made aware that it's completely kosher for him to do so!

Don't know that the Prince would pick the Prince of Wales tartan to wear though since its a "made up" fashion tartan and not official to anything. Just a pretty tartan with the Welsh colors in it.
