I guess my narrative could be clearer.
The doorman didn't notice my kilt until I turned to leave. After he saw me with it, he ran out and offered to let us in for free after the show started if he still had some unclaimed comp tickets left (which he did).
Upon our return, he even stated that he couldn't bear to not let us in since I'd had the balls to wear the kilt just for the show.
Funny thing is that I wear one almost daily. But he didn't need to know that.
