    Talking Kilt Power!

So Flogging Molly was in town last night and the show was completely sold out...

I'd forgotten to buy tickets in time and had exhausted all of my "connections" to either get on the guest list or get some comp tickets. About 15 minutes before the band was set to go on, my girlfriend and I stopped by the ticket office to see if any tickets had become available. The doorman assured me that the show was totally sold out, there was nothing he could do, and that we were plain out of luck.

    We turned and left.

As the door closed behind us, I heard him say "Hey! That guy's wearing a kilt!" Just then the doorman ran out and stopped us on the sidewalk. "Come back in 20 minutes and I should be able to get you in for free."

    And he did.

    Net result from being kilted:
-2 tickets to an awesome sold out show
    -$50 saved
-Extra needed ventilation in a hot, crowded concert hall
    -LOTS of props from folks

I must be a bit dense but I'm not clear on the significance of the "20 minutes" or why the kilt was important on this occasion??

I guess my narrative could be clearer.

The doorman didn't notice my kilt until I turned to leave. After he saw me with it, he ran out and offered to let us in for free after the show started if he still had some unclaimed comp tickets left (which he did).

Upon our return, he even stated that he couldn't bear to not let us in since I'd had the balls to wear the kilt just for the show.

Funny thing is that I wear one almost daily. But he didn't need to know that.

BLU... The reason it was important to the BOUNCER on this occasion is that Flogging Molly (for those of you who may not know) are a Celtic Rock / punk rock band with a pretty big following... If you haven't heard them, check them out!

MAN! YOU LUCKY DOG YOU! I absolutely adore Flogging Molly! I would most certainly be kilted if given the oppurtunity to attend one of their shows. Good for you, glad that worked out so well. Did you see any other kilties there? I've often wondered if many kilties crawl out of the woodworks for their shows.
