If you're wearing the Anderson tartan then the blue could look nice. Black works quite well also as that is both my tartan and my PC is black.

My personal feeling is that the black is more dressy but I really don't see a problem. Assomming you have more kilts in other tartans then the blue might not be the best choice.

There's a green one that's been popping up on eBay for a while. Looks sharp to me, but I'd probably have a limited number of kilts I could wear it with.

    blue PC...

I was at a formal Scottish function in Tulsa back in August 2002, and there was a fellow there, an ex-RN "Bosun" who wore an Anderson tartan kilt with a navy blue PC jacket, and it looked very good together.

    Regards,

    Todd

    Smile Bro's PC in Green

Me bro wears his green PC with his clan MacIntosh kilt. It brings out the green of the kilt. I wear a navy argyll jacket with my hunting MacIntosh. It brings out the navy of the kilt. We both add pleated shirts with a black bow tie and receive nothing but compliments at white/black tie, full mess dinners. Both of us are commissioned navy, but have served in the Lincoln and Welland Regiment. Even if the tartan doesn't have black in it, a black PC would go well with it because your ghillies and belt would probably be black.
Notice the gent on the viewing left of the following photo wearing the Currie tartan with a black jacket and black ghillie brogues. It looks fine, and there isn't any black in the Currie (my grandmother's) tartan.

Whew!... does that ever look sharp!

My wife would like me to get the navy blue PC.... my only concern for myself is that my "clan" kilt has a predominantly green undercheck and might not go so well together with the blue.

    I'm still undecided.
